Artwork by the Benedictine Sisters of Turvey Abbey
Feast day 11th June.
Born in Cyprus Barnabas (born Joseph)
was a prominent Jewish figure in Jerusalem. St. Luke describes him as follows:
"he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and

Like St. Paul, he is considered equal in rank to the
Apostles; he stood sponsor for St. Paul after his conversion and persuaded St.
Peter to meet him. He and St. Paul travelled together evangelising the gentiles.
