Feastday 31th July
Spanish courtier and aristocrat who suffered
near fatal wounds as a soldier in the battle of Pamplona (1521) and experienced
a conversion to his true vocation through the call of God. The spiritual path
defined by Ignatius is a way of discerning God's presence in our everyday lives
and acting on it.
St Ignatius Prayer for Generosity:
Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.
