Inspired by the beautiful symbolism from A Song of God's Love (Isaiah 54:5-14) which declares God's eternal Covenant with his people: Never again will God destroy the world by water, as he did in the days of Noah, God promises only compassion for his people, even though mountains may depart & hills be removed God's love for us will remain unshaken.
Water, once perceived in Noah's day as death-dealing, has now become transformed into Baptismal water, life-giving and saving, it has become a never-ending stream of God's love, bringing hope and new life.
This Old Testament reading used at the Easter Vigil before the blessing of the baptismal water and renewal of our own baptismal promises reminds us of the enduring power of God's love and the saving grace of Baptism.
