The Rainbow Story of Saint Joan the Girl in Armour
Joan was 17 when, guided by heavenly voices and visions she believed came direct from God, she left her peasant home. She went to the Dauphin of France and told him she had been sent to recapture the city of Orleans, drive back the English invaders and see the Dauphin crowned as Kind of France in the cathedral at Rheims. In a wonder year, she made all her promises come true. Then her enemies closed in on her. Her short earthly life in imprisonment, trials and a cruel death. Yet she lived on in the hearts of the French people, and nearly 500 years after her death she was proclaimed a saint and a Patron of France.
