Emerging from the mists of the mystery of God, light, God's life-giving energy, flows into the world. 

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

The Greek word 'Logos', which in English has been translated as 'Word', means 'expression of God', while the Hebrew word means creative energy. So, "In the beginning was Creative Energy". "Creative Energy was made flesh and dwelt among us."

In this picture, God's Creative Energy is streaming into our dark world in a new way. There will be a new birth of energy and light, now to become very human - a very special new born baby.

The messenger or bringer of this light is an angel, a being of light with wings to bring it across space from God, or perhaps an angel is God's energy travelling along the wavelengths of light and sound?

Lastly and most importantly we have Mary. It is her attitude of openness and willingness to receive the light of God, this creative energy that makes it possible for God to become one of us in this special and unique way.
