From a candle-lit birth to a shambolic demise, St Joseph's College, Mark Cross, which served the Southwark Archdiocese, from 1924, for 45 years, finally closed its doors forty-five years ago. This short history, the only one, so far, to be published, has been thoroughly researched and, throughout, uses first-hand accounts and eye-witnesses' stories. The courageous struggles of Mgr Corbishley ('Corby') for 35 years and the enthusiastic endeavours of the second rector, Mgr Westlake (Willie) are all recorded and credited.  The Mark Cross story is a must read for those who spent happy years there and anyone interested in Catholic life before the Second Vatican Council.
