Assemblies for Spring and Summer Festivals

Assemblies for Spring and Summer Festivals

Author/Artist: Martin Cox

36 ready-to-use ideas for key Christian festivals and other special days. Includes photocopy permission - Ideal for KS1-2

This book is a companion volume to Assemblies for Autumn Festivals and is packed with a further 36 tried and tested assembly ideas, designed to resource the second and third terms of the school year. The ideas fall under four main themes: Saints of Britain, Faith in action, The life of Jesus and Special days and celebrations.

There is a wealth of material to choose from within each theme. The assemblies can be used either in date order or as a set of assemblies on one of the key themes. For completeness, cross-curricular links for the classroom are included with each theme.

Each assembly includes key background information for the teacher, key Bible stories with further Bible links, suggestions for visual aids, and creative ideas for exploring the theme including interactive storytelling, drama, songs and prayers.

Martin Cox has taught at primary level for over 20 years but is still surprised when he meets people he taught who introduce him to their children! He loves being in the classroom and taking assemblies. His first book, A Busy Time for Angels, a big book for the Literacy Hour published by John Hunt, was a retelling of the Christmas story from Mary's viewpoint. He has also had songs and carols published, for example, in Carol Praise.
